Collective Bargaining Update
As the New Year began, SEIU 200United and Mercy Faculty Forward initiated a member survey to identify key priorities for their upcoming contract negotiations. Utilizing the feedback gathered, chapter leadership and the local union formulated a contract proposal. Recent negotiation sessions have yielded positive outcomes, including strengthened language surrounding just cause termination and the university’s agreement to mediation as a conflict resolution method. With the current collective bargaining agreement set to expire on May 3rd, the negotiating team is diligently working towards a comprehensive long-term contract. Their primary objectives include securing meaningful annual wage increases, bolstering union security, and enhancing the overall working conditions for adjunct faculty members. The team is striving to reach a favorable agreement before the deadline, ensuring a stable and improved future for its members.
